Inter Kenmare F.C.

Underage Soccer

The role of underage soccer in the club has increased dramatically over the last few years. We now run 8 underage teams as well as providing basic coaching for under 10s on a Wednesday afternoon. The latter has proved extremely popular with upwards of 40 children, boys and girls in regular attendance.

In response to this, the club has taken on responsibility in two areas. Firstly, all coaches at underage level are actively encouraged to take the FAI coaching courses.  To date all coaches with teams in the league have taken at least Kick Start 1. Our next aim is to put the under 10 coaches through the same process. Secondly, the club takes the issue of child safety very seriously and have adopted the “Code of Ethics—Good Practice for Children’s Sport’” as part of our club constitution. Two members of the underage committee have participated in the ”Child Protection in Sport Awareness Workshop’”, organised by the Irish Sports Council.

As a club, we actively encourage parents to become involved. That’s how we got our current coaches! We are always on the lookout for more parents to become involved, especially with the under 10s. Anyone willing to help out can contact our Underage Co-ordinator at underage@interkenmare.com
